Enjoy a comprehensive city tour that combines main landmarks and sites of Athens with an escape from the city centre. We begin from the contemporary heart of Athens, at Syntagma Square. You will learn about the modern history of the city, as we pass by the Greek Parliament, the Presidential Guard in the traditional colourful uniform and the memorial Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

We drive by numerous elegant neoclassical buildings, including the President’s Residence, a former Royal Palace, to reach the Panathenaic Stadium that held the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. After a short stop we see the classical temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the National Library, the Academy, the University of Athens and the Catholic Cathedral. You will be amazed by the rich classical and modern heritage of Athens.

Our next stop is the Acropolis, the eternal symbol of democracy, education and inspiration. Your guide will explain the history of the Golden Age of Athens as you visit the architectural masterpieces the Propylea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally the Parthenon, the one of the world’s most famous landmark monuments dedicated to the goddess Athena.

The tour continues with a drive along the “Riviera of Attica”, a long a scenic costal road with palm-fringed beaches and a majestic view of the Saronic Gulf. Escape from the bustle of the city centre of Athens and discover some of the most beautiful suburbs (Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Lagonissi and Anavissos), where we stop for a short walk. For lunch we take you at a sea-side restaurant to taste traditional Greek dishes and relax by the Mediterranean sea.

Our final stop is at the southern-most point of the entire Attica peninsula, Cape Sounion. Your guide will tell you the history and mythology of Cape Sounion which had a great strategic and religious importance in ancient times. You will visit the impressive Temple of Poseidon, built by the edge off the cliff, and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea.
